Every Minute in the Social Media Universe
A Social Media Minute
Just how much Social Media do we manage in a single minute?
2 million YouTube clip views
700,000 Facebook messages
7,630 site Stumbled
7,610 LinkedIn searches
2,000 Foursquare check-ins
It’s amazing we have time to do anything else.
Users are flocking to Social Media platforms and signing up by the hundreds of thousands.
If they weren’t already, businesses are going online and embracing Social Media as a genuine and primary marketing tool and means of connecting with their customers.
The rapid rise of Social Media shows no signs of slowing, and why would it when most everything we do is becoming Social:
Having a party? Don’t bother with invitations, phone calls, text messages – just use Facebook or Twitter or one of the many online event management platforms.
Need to find a Specialist? Put down the phone book and head to Google. Chances are, there’ll be a forum and a plethora of personal recommendations at the click of a button.
Major purchase to be researched? Don’t bother hitting the road and trawling the stores. Jump online and start searching. Everything from houses, cars and whitegoods, to schools, holidays and fashion – the internet is full of forums, reviews, recommendations, and even brands and products to avoid. All available from the comfort of your own home, and undoubtedly faster than if you were having to “manually” find the information from multiple sources.
Looking for a job, or alternatively, an employee? Forget the classifieds, hit up LinkedIn and get an up to date view of who and what’s available.
The technology generation is getting older. The older generations are getting technologically savvy. Schools are now tailoring their curriculum and learning to be more internet and Social Media friendly from an ever earlier age.
It’s not uncommon now to find schools teaching classes on Social Media etiquette. Peer awareness and bullying courses now have a primary focus on Facebook and Twitter and Social Media platforms.
If they weren’t already, businesses are going online and embracing Social Media as a key marketing tool and means of connecting with their customers.
The world is indeed a Social one, as these statistics show.
It will be interesting to compare the same 60 second Social Media snapshot 5 and 10 years from now. Imagine all the Social we’ll be partaking in every minute of the day by then?
