The Social Media Success 2-step
So everyone knows that a Social Media presence is essential to business. Everyone knows it’s not a question of Facebook or Twitter? It’s both.
Now the question is, how do you maximise your online presence? How do you get the most out of your Tweets, your Facebook posts, your LinkedIn connections, and the like?
The two main strategies are Social Media Optimisation (SMO) and engagement.
Both equally important for driving traffic to your company website, but both with their own set of rules and guidelines for success.
SMO is a planned strategy. It’s a bit like a scientific equation, if you will. Updates, tweets, posts – they’re all made with a specific calculation for maximum impact and exposure to your key market.
Engagement is the more emotionally based strategy. It’s about connecting with your audience, and fostering a relationship of sorts. Making them feel that there is a person behind the screen, behind the Wi-Fi transmitted messages, and not just an automated program spitting out auto-generated tweets and posts at scheduled times.
The key to success is employing both SMO and engagement strategies in an equally effective manner, without relying too heavily on either one, and likewise, without neglecting one over the other.
SMO will get them in, but engagement is what keeps them coming back.
